Project Series: Experimental Video Art Live Sound Performance
By Visual Artist/ Percussive Sound Performer Robert Gorman
4th Video in Series:
Entitled Fearless + Live Percussive Sound Performance 2020
Fearless is a multimedia performance piece which explores the non-verbal dialogue between moving visual imagery and live percussive sound. The video part of my piece explores the idea of fearlessness, as it relates to survival. In a non-narrative landscape, I captured seabirds in-flight as they searched for, found and fought to keep their prey. My live percussive sound is an open-score, juxtaposed into the moving image, creating a dialogue to capture this unseen intensity.
3rd Video in Series
Entitled: Awake + Live Percussive Sound Performance 2019
Awake is a multimedia performance art piece which explores the non-verbal dialogue between visual imagery and live percussive sound. The video part of my piece explores elements in nature such as rain and lightning landscapes that have become mundane and oftentimes forgotten in our daily lives, unless they prevent us from doing things, which hints at this idea or awareness of awake. My live percussive sound is juxtaposed into the moving image, creating a dialogue.
2nd Video in Series:
Entitled: "Off Switch" Live Percussive Sound Performance 2017
Curatorial Summary:
Off Switch is a multimedia experimental sound piece which explores the nonverbal dialogue created between visual imagery and experimental sound. Gorman’s use of the moving image in this video hangs between its movement and unknown, yet familiar landscapes’ changing position, while the viewer is subjected to the subliminal moving images, juxtaposed, at random points, as ambient lights change its landscape.

1st Video in Series:
Entitled: "Trust Me Live Percussive Sound Performance" 2016
Curatorial Summary:
Trust Me is a multimedia performance art piece which explores the nonverbal dialogue created between visual imagery and experimental sound. Gorman’s use of the moving image in this video is ambiguous and often lost in the limits between what is blurred and abstracted from its original state. His live percussive sound performance is in response to the environmental ambiance of the moving, and sometimes still, image as it goes in and out of focus, leaving the viewer to decipher its origin.
